Obudu mountain resort formerly known Obudu cattle ranch was first explored by M. McCaughley, a Scottish rancher in 1949. He camped on the mountain top for a month before returning with Mr Hugh Jones a rancher too. From research Obudu Mountain Resort was developed in 1951 by Mr Hugh Jones and Dr Crawfield.
What make here so interesting?
This Resort is found on Obudu Plateau located in the highlands of Cross River State, about 45 miles from the border with Cameroon. It is one of the most beautiful and pleasant tourist centers in Nigeria. It offers visitors a good blend of warm and cold temperature, as it has a very temperate weather. The Obudu Mountain Resort is a good example of how green the grass can be if watered just right.
The truth is not many Nigerian know about the beauty of these place, most will probably say or tell it’s not Nigeria but this resort has increasingly become popular among tourists, most especially couples and other adventures from various tribes in the country and from other countries.

You can let loose with activities like swimming, horse-riding, golfing and hiking. At the Obudu Mountain Resort, the fun never stops, as there are loads of fun outdoor activities to get involved in. This resort has two large river-sized swimming pools, where you can enjoy time in the water and also relax in the outdoor pool bed. When hiking, it is recommended that you go with firm boots and be psychologically prepared for the climbing expedition. With its 9-hole golf course, you are allowed to play a game of golf. The lush vegetation around the golfing area is an amazing sight to behold.

You will have an astonishing time watching the birds with your binocular. The forest and all of its creatures are jealously protected by the Cross River State Government.
There are a few great sights fairly close to Obudu; for example, the Afi Forest Reserve and Agbokim Waterfalls are both within 3 hours drive of the Resort and are worthy of a visit.
